Today
Posted by Chris on May 22nd, 2008 filed in hi, libraries, optimismThese days, I’m all about the little victories and accentuating the positive, at least when it comes to my own personal and professional life. I usually don’t like to blog too much about myself, but I think today warrants an exception.
With that said…
Today, a coworker acknowledged something about the dynamics of our workplace that I didn’t want to bring up, even though it was definitely bugging me. It feels good to know that I’m not the only one who thinks something is amiss, even if there isn’t really anything we can do about.
Today, we kicked off our summer reading program at the library, for both children and for teens.
Today, I got to talk with two of the regular attendees from my young adult book discussions, and both of them seem to be doing pretty well. (One of them even interviewed for a job at the library.)
Today, at least twenty teens registered for our summer reading program. This is about ten times more than I thought we’d have registered at the end of the day.
Today, I watched more than a few coworkers chip in where they were needed, volunteer great ideas, and contribute to the overall quality of their workplace.
Today, there was so much positive energy at work that I came home feeling tired — and in pretty much the best way possible after a busy day at work.
And today, a loved one officially accepted a job that she really wanted, and I couldn’t be happier for her (even if it means she’ll still be living over two hours away).
Today was a good day. I’m celebrating.

Glad you had a good day and that’s great about your summer reading sign-ups! Ours start week after next. I’ll be spending the next week decorating our Info Desk.
