Happiness is a warm kitten
Posted by Chris on June 5th, 2008 filed in hiHaving grown up with two dogs (Buttons when I was a baby and a toddler, and Coco when I was a child and an adolescent), I’ve always thought of myself as a dog person. But in recent years, I’ve noticed that a lot of librarians tend to be cat people — whether this has something to do with the quiet independence of our feline friends or something else, I don’t know.
Either way, here’s a sweet picture of me with the adorable Rhett Butler (Mel’s mom’s cat). He was originally named “Scarlet” due to some gender-identification issues. Needless to say, the vet was a bit confused when Mel’s mom brought him in to be spayed.
Anyway, in the picture, he kinda looks like he’s trying to escape, but he’s actually slumped over my arm and on the verge of falling asleep. He apparently took a liking to me, which is more than most cats do.
So now I want a cat. OK, I really want a cat. Or maybe I just want Rhett to move in with me. He’s really awesome, and I think he knows it. And I really wouldn’t mind a furry, purring distraction while I’m in the middle of blogging or doing homework.
